Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  Do I need to be technically gifted to refill my cartridge?

It really isn't that difficult.   If you can change a light bulb you can refill your cartridge.  All you have to be able to do is 1.  read, 2.  follow directions, and 3.  have motor function in your hands!

Q.  Will using refilling kits void my warranty?

A. According to Hewlett-Packard®, the use of a refilled print cartridge does not affect the warranty unless failure or damage is attributable to it.  This is typical of all manufacturers' warranties. Keep in mind that the ink does not touch any part of the printer or internal parts other than the cartridge and print head. The ink is applied to the paper as the paper is fed through the printer.

Q.  Do different printers and models use different inks?

YES! In fact, most printer lines have different inks for different printer models. For example an HP51626A and HP51629A - although identical cartridges - use different inks! The Canon BJI-201, BC-21, BC-02 cartridges all use different inks. It is very important to order the proper refill kit for your specific printer and cartridge type.

Q.  Are your colors the same as the original?

A. For all practical purposes, yes.  If there are slight variations in color, they can be adjusted through software.

Q. Will the ink log my printer head?

A.  No. The ink is refined to 1/2 micron in purity.  By comparison, Hewlett-Packard® inks are refined to only 1 micron.

Q.  Are the refill systems messy?

A.  No. The refill systems uses a needle injector which allows you to precisely control the filling process.  Other refill kits use a squeeze bottle and does not allow for precise control.   If you are careful, it shouldn't be too messy.  You should take the proper precautions after all accidents do happen!  At first, you might get some ink on your hands, but it really isn't a big deal. The ink can be removed quickly by using a mild bleach solution.   Soap and water can also be used but may not be as effective as the bleach.  After you get the hang of it, the chances of an accident will lessen.

Q.  How many refills will I get from a refill kit?

A.  That depends on the capacity of your cartridge.  For example: You will get approximately 24 or more refills with the Canon BC-21 cartridge and about 4 refills with the Canon BC-20 cartridge. Most Hewlett-Packard® cartridges average approximately 3-5 refills.

Q.  How Much Money Will I Save Refilling My Own Cartridges?

The savings range depending on which printer you own.  Refills run anywhere from $1 to $4 per refill. These savings increase substantially based on how much ink you buy.  Savings can be much more for certain models, for example, the HP Inkjet 300 black refill costs $18 for 4 refills.  A new cartridge would cost between $25 and $35 depending on where you live, but only costs between $3.50 and $4.75 per refill depending on whether you get the double ink option or not.  Refill prices can go as low as $1 and $2 and lower per refill on the majority of models.

Q.  Is it Difficult, and How Much Time Will It Take Me to Refill My Cartridge?

It is not difficult at all. It is a simple process that once you get the hang of seems ridiculously easy.  Typically it takes 5 to 10 minutes the first time you do it.  When you master the process it usually only takes a few minutes to do the refill. It saves you a trip to the mall to buy a new cartridge, and can actually be quite satisfying, knowing you are saving so much money!

Q.  What Comes In A Refill Kit?

Everything you will need is included in the startup refill kit.  Depending on the make and model of your printer, your kit will include detailed instructions, a syringe for inserting the ink, a full ink bottle, and sometimes a small drill depending on your make and model, after you have purchased the startup kit the only additional cost will be for the ink alone.

Q.  Why do the printer manufacturer's tell me not to refill?

They are practically giving printers away to have you as a captive customer for life!  For example, how much ink do you think is in these cartridges?  Most  cartridges cost there manufactures between $.20 and $1.00 to manufacture.   "We will void the warranty if you refill your cartridge" This is a scare tactic.  How are they going to know you refilled your cartridge unless you tell them? Why do they say this?  Because they want you to keep buying their cartridges!  Refilling is completely harmless.  Not all inks, refill kits and compatible products are made equal.  Many fly-by-night companies ruin our good image by providing inferior products.

Q.  What is your guarantee and return policy?

If you cannot refill your cartridge successfully at least once, we offer a refund.  If you have tried to use it and have consulted our free tech support and still can't get the results you are looking for we will issue a refund for the unused portion of ink.  You must return the unused portion of of the inks and all tools to our office.  Once we receipt of the kit we will then issue a refund.
